Seven Wrestlers Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Seven Oregon State wrestlers were among the athletes honored on the Pacific-10's All-Academic Wrestling Team, which was announced Wednesday.

Jed Pennell and Curt Willener were named to the first team, and Paul Rademacher was a second team selection. Adam Daniel, Brian Duhrkoop, Casey Horn and John Winters were honorable mention picks.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant substitute for their team.

Pennell, a junior from Cave Junction, Ore. (Illinois Valley HS), has a 3.82 GPA and is majoring in exercise and sport science. This season, he placed second in the Pac-10 Championships at 184 pounds and was one of six Beavers to qualify for the NCAA Championships. He was 11-9 on the season, including an 8-4 mark at 184 pounds.

Willener, a junior from Portland, Ore. (Scapoose HS), carries a 3.60 GPA as a business administration major. He had a 2-2 record wrestling at 184 pounds this past season.

Rademacher, a junior from Chiloquin, Ore. (Chiloquin HS), has a 3.26 GPA in exercise and sport science. He was 1-2 in exhibitions and open tournaments this season.

Daniel is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry and history, Duhrkoop is a junior exercise and sport science major, Horn is a senior with an education major, and Winters is a junior business major.
