Spring Football Game At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19

The annual Arizona State University spring football game will be held Saturday, April 19 at 2:30 p.m. PT at Frank Kush Field /Sun Devil Stadium. Third-year head coach Dirk Koetter will unveil his 2003 version Sun Devils in a scrimmage that is free of charge to the general public. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. PT.

The exact format of the game has not been decided, but a scrimmage with officials will be part of the practice. Koetter has indicated that the scrimmage will include between 60 and 80 plays.

Junior quarterback Andrew Walter headlines a returning nucleus of talent that has nine starters returning on offense and seven on defense, including the Pacific-10 Conference's leading punter Tim Parker. On offense, the entire offensive line returns as do all of the tailbacks and fullbacks, led by seniors Mike Karney and Mike Williams. Daryl Lightfoot, Skyler Fulton, Derek Hagan and Matt Miller highlight the returning wide receivers.

On defense, almost the entire defensive front returns, including starters Brian Montesanto, Jimmy Verdon and Shane Jones. The secondary is veteran with safeties Jason Shivers, Riccardo Stewart, Brett Hudson, Joey Smith and Lamar Baker returning. The cornerback spot is well-stocked with R.J. Oliver, Josh Golden, Emmanuel Franklin and Mike Davis. Jamar Williams returns at linebacker.

Concessions will be available at the South end zone grill and a legends sale will be held with old ASU merchandise at the Southeast gate off the Team Shop. The Team Shop will be open as well.

The Sun Devil ticket office will be open for business during the game.
