Trojans Sign Prep Point Guard Quinton Day

April 16, 2003

Standout prep point guard Quinton Day from Kansas City, Mo., has signed a letter of intent with USC, Trojan men's basketball coach Henry Bibby announced today.

'Quinton is a winner and a leader,' Bibby said. 'He's a very good shooter and defender. He's quick and athletic and has a great feel for the game, which is key among point guards.'

Day, 6-foot-0, 175 pounds, was named the Kansas City Star's All-Metro boys' player of the year after leading Paseo Academy to a 26-4 record and a second-place finish in Missouri Class 4 as a senior in 2003. He also earned All-Metro first team honors as a junior in 2002.

The left-handed Day, who averaged 20.2 points, 5.0 assists, 6.0 steals and 3.2 rebounds last year, is listed among the top 20 prep point guards in the country by Athlon Sports and Insider Hoops and is listed No. 68 overall by Prepstar.
