Six Men's, Women's Swimmers, Divers Earn Pac-10 All-Academic First Team Honors

Trojan men's swimmers Nick Degenstein, Matthew Peterson and Erik Tolmachoff and women's swimmers and divers Nicci Fusaro, Blythe Hartley and Marisa Kozak we're all named to the 2003 Pac-10 Conference Winter All-Academic teams, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Thursday (April 17).

Degenstein, a senior chemical engineering major with a 3.86 GPA, earned first team honors for the third consecutive year while Tolmachoff, also a senior chemical engineering major with a 3.64 GPA, is first team for the second straight year. Peterson, a junior communications major with a 3.44 GPA, earned his first such honor.

Fusaro, a junior fine arts major with a 3.71 GPA, earned first team honors for the second year in row while sophomores Hartley, undeclared with a 3.69 GPA, and Kozak, undeclared with a 3.89 GPA, are first-time selections. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.

Junior Trent Staley earned second team honors for the men. Sophomore Joanna Fargus, junior Erin O'Kane and senior Asa Sandlund earned honorable mention honors for the women.
