No. 17 Women's Tennis Drops Last Bout of the Season to No. 28 Arizona

April 19, 2003

Tempe, AZ - The No. 17 Arizona State Women's Tennis Team ended the regular season Saturday afternoon with an unfortunate 4-3 loss to the No. 28 Wildcats of Arizona.

In doubles the Devils started off rough with only the ASU duo of CIndy Sureephong and Mhairi Brown taking an 8-4 win, but their victory was not enough as the Wildcats took the doubles point.

In singles, the Devils fought back hard, almost allowing them to take the match on singles wins alone, but in the end fell just shy.

Sophomores Lauren Colalillo and Joslynn Burkett both pulled off great wins against the Wildcats, while fellow Devil Cindy Sureephong battled Debbie Larocque to a three set match.

In the last and most intense match of the day No. 11 Adria Engel fought No. 10 Emelie Scribet for an incredible 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 win for the Devils.

The victory was not enough though, as the loss sets the Devils regular season record to 9-10 and 2-6 in Pac-10 play.
