Sixth-Ranked Huskies Finish Regular Season Blanking WSU, 7-0

SEATTLE - Washington women's tennis (17-3 overall, 6-2 Pac-10) defeated cross-state rival Washington State (7-13 overall, 0-8 Pac-10), 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Bill Quillian Stadium. Garnering their highest national ranking in school history, the No. 6 Huskies finished the regular season winning their last five matches.

The Huskies gained the doubles point as they swept all three matches. The All-American tandem of 13th-ranked Carter and Klaic downed Orsi Sallai and Lorena Arias, 8-4 to clinch the doubles point. All-Americans Klaic and Carter moved up on the all-time Washington career doubles victories list, as Klaic improves her record to 80 wins and Carter ranks fourth all-time with 63 victories.

In singles action, the Huskies swept all six matches as Dea Sumantri, Carter, Klaic, Erin Boisclair, Colleen Gray and Erin Hoe dominated the Cougars, all winning in straight sets.

Washington will now head to the Pac-10 Championships, held Thursday, April 24, through Sunday, April 27, in Ojai, Calif.
