Bruin varsity eight and novice eight victorious at Stanford Invitational

Redwood Shores, Calif. - The UCLA women's varsity eight defeated UC Davis and Sacramento State in dual-meet rowing action today at the Stanford Invitational.
The Bruins won the varsity eight, novice eight, and second novice eight competitions against UC Davis, before defeating Sacramento State in the varsity eight and novice eight competitions later in the afternoon. UCLA lost both of its second varsity eight competitions against UC Davis and Sacramento State.
Against UC Davis, the Bruins varsity eight raced to a winning time of 6:59.0 over 2,000 meters, followed by UC Davis (7:14.1). UCLA's novice eight raced to a winning time of 7:07.6, followed by UC Davis in 7:22.3. The Bruin second novice eight (7:30.6) also defeated the Anteaters (7:33.4), but the UC Davis second varsity eight recorded a time of 7:15.0 to defeat the Bruins (7:27.7) by 13-seconds.
Later in the afternoon, the Bruin varsity eight raced to a winning time of 6:57.9 to defeat Sacramento State (7:12.9) by 15-seconds. Times were still not available for second varsity and novice eight races. The Bruins were victorious in the novice eight competition but fell to the Sacramento State in second varsity eight race.
The Bruins return to action next Saturday, April 26, as they travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to dual the University of Minnesota Gophers.
