WSU Head Coach Jane LaRiviere on the Clemson Classic: 'Tennessee is ranked in the top 20 and Duke is in the top 25, so they're going to be worthy candidates, but our squads should be able to take care of things. This competition will allow us to work more on our race strategy and hone our skills without the pressure of thePac-10 schools. It's another chance for some good competition and the races will help us learn what we need to accomplish in future competitions.'

What Happened Last Week: Cougar rowing took a week off from competition and focused on practices and scrimmages. The Cougars last raced against the University of Washington, Saturday, April 12 at Wawawai Landing. The WSU squads raced well with the varsity four and second varsity eight coming away with victories. The varsity eight, which was ranked 12th in the nation at the time, made a strong bid against the second-ranked Huskies, losing to UW by only six seconds.
