Arizona Men's Tennis Completes Day Two of Pac-10 Tournament

OJAI, Calif. - The No. 33 Arizona men's tennis team competed in the second day of the Pac-10 Championships, played in conjunction with the 103rd Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament. Day two consisted of doubles competition, where Arizona fielded three doubles teams: two in the main draw, and one in the invitational draw.

During the main draw, the team of junior Whi Kim and sophomore Paul Warkentin received a bye in the first round and defeated Thomas Bieri and Manuel Kost of Oregon in the second round, 8-6, to reach the semifinals, which will take place Saturday, April 26. In the first round the duo of sophomore Colin O'Grady and junior Carl Hagman fell to Scott Lipsky and David Martin of Stanford, 8-6.

Competing in the invitational draw the team of freshman Daniel Andrus and redshirt freshman Tim Mullane defeated Dean Wallace and Wayne Wong of California in the first round, 8-4. In the round of eight, the pair fell to Carter Morris and Sam Warburg of Stanford, 8-6.

The back draw will take place Saturday, where the Wildcats will have several men competing in both singles and doubles. Playing singles for Arizona will be O'Grady, Mullane and sophomore Chris Gessner. Competing in doubles will be the team of O'Grady and Hagman. O'Grady will start at 8:00 a.m. while Mullane and Gessner will begin at 11 a.m. Doubles action will begin at 12:30 a.m.

Arizona will be back in action Saturday, April 26 were the Wildcats will compete in day three of the Pac-10 Championships.
