Bears Perform Well at Triton Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Several University of California track and field athletes competed at the Triton Invitational last weekend, hosted by the University of California, San Diego.

Junior Jenna Johnson, sophomore Rhuben Williams, junior Tony Miranda and freshman Kurt Seefeld also competed at the invitational. Johnson finished 19th in the discus with a throw of 130-3. Williams placed fourth in the hammer (200-7), took fifth in the shot put (58-9.25) and finished 14th in the discus (168-6). His mark in the hammer moves him to fifth-place on Cal's all-time best performances list. Miranda finished fourth in the discus (183-3), while Seefeld took sixth place (178-10). Seefeld's mark is a season-best and meets NCAA regional and Pac-10 qualifying standards.

Former Cal standouts, Jennifer Joyce was Dana Lawson, also competed at the invitational. Joyce, Cal's school record-holder in the hammer (214-0), finished second in the event with a toss of 211-7. Lawson was runner-up in the shot put (52-0.50) and finished eighth in the discus (174-10).
