Clay Johnson Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week

Washington junior pitcher Clay Johnson has been selected as the Pacific-10 ConferencePitcher of the Week, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Johnson, a right-hander from Elma, Wash., picked up a pair of wins last week in twostarts. Last Tuesday, he threw four innings to beat Hawaii-Hilo before working six inningsin a crucial win Sunday over California, his first start this season against a conferenceopponent. He allowed only one run on nine hits over his 10 innings of work while strikingout nine.

Johnson is 4-2 on the season with a 5.50 earned run average.

Arizona State's Jeremy West, who hit a 10th-inning walk-off homer Saturday night andthen had three homers and nine RBI Sunday vs. Washington State, was named the Pac-10Player of the Week.

The Huskies face 12-time NAIA champion Lewis-Clark State Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.before travelling to Pullman this weekend for a three-game series.
