Men's Golf In Ninth After First Day Of Pac-10 Championships

Glendale, Calif. - The No. 18 USC men's golf team shot rounds of 377 and 391 on Monday and are in ninth place after the first day of the 2003 Pac-10 Championships held at Oakmont Country Club.

The two-time defending champion Trojans have a 36-hole total of 768 and are 42 strokes behind first place UCLA (726). Stanford is second (733), Washington is third (737), Arizona is fourth (740) and Arizona State is fifth (743).

Oregon State's Cameron MacKenzie is first on the leaderboard at four-under 140. Jim Seiki of Stanford is second (141), with four players tied for third.

For the Trojans, sophomore Ben Hayes is tied for 12th after shooting 147 (+3), while senior Chris Botsford is tied for 33rd (153). Freshman Taylor Wood is tied for 39th (155), freshman Tyler Ley is tied for 46th (157) and senior David Oh is 51st (159).

The tournament resumes play on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
