CORVALLIS - Oregon State's list of players joining the National Football League has grown to five as safety Calvin Carlyle and defensive tackle Eric Manning signed free agent contracts Monday to play in the NFL.

Carlyle, a four-year letterman who played both safety and cornerback for the Beavers, signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday. Manning, a four-year letterman and three-year starter at defensive tackle, signed as a free agent with the Carolina Panthers.

Earlier in the weekend, linebacker Nick Barnett was drafted in the first round by the Green Bay Packers as the 29th player overall taken in the draft. He became the first Beaver taken in the first round since Terry Baker was the first overall selection taken in the 1963 draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

Cornerback Dennis Weathersby was drafted as the first player in the fourth round and 98th selection overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. He joins former teammates Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh with the Bengals.
