Men's Golf Finishes Ninth At Pac-10 Championships

Glendale, Calif. - The USC men's golf team shot 373 in the final round on Wednesday to finish in ninth at the 2003 Pac-10 Men's Golf Championships held at Oakmont Country Club.

The Trojans--who had won the last two Pac-10 titles--finished with a 72-hole total of 1515, 76 strokes behind team champion UCLA (1439). Arizona was second (1466), Arizona State was third (1475), Stanford was fourth (1478) and Washington was fifth (1484).

UCLA's John Merrick won the individual title with a score of 276 (-9).

Sophomore Ben Hayes led the Trojans, shooting 294 to tie for 15th.

Also for USC, senior Chris Botsford tied for 42nd (307), senior David Oh and freshman Taylor Wood tied for 44th (308) and freshman Tyler Ley tied for 46th (309).

At the conclusion of the tournament, Botsford, Bollini and Wood were named to the the All-Pac-10 honorable mention team.

The Trojans are next in action at the NCAA West Regionals held in Auburn, Wash., on May 15-17.
