OSU's Roberts Signs With Cincinnati

CORVALLIS - Oregon State cornerback Terrell Roberts has signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League, making it a total of six Beavers joining the professional ranks.
Three OSU players were drafted. Linebacker Nick Barnett was drafted in the first round by the Green Bay Packers as the 29th player overall taken in the draft. He became the first Beaver taken in the first round since Terry Baker was the first overall selection taken in the 1963 draft by the Los Angeles Rams.
Cornerback Dennis Weathersby was drafted as the first player in the fourth round and 98th selection overall by the Cincinnati Bengals. He joins former teammates Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh with the Bengals.
Defensive tackle James Lee, a two-year letterman at OSU, was drafted in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers and was the 47th player selected overall.
Roberts started 21 straight games for the Beavers and played in a total of 44 games during his career as a cornerback and kick returner. He recorded 54 tackles, including two tackles for loss, during the 2002 season. He broke up 11 passes and had two interceptions in 2002. He also participated in the 2003 Hula Bowl All-Star game in Maui in February. He ranked sixth in the Pac-10 and 64th nationally in punt returns with an average of 9.67. Roberts tied with Weathersby for seventh in the Pac-10 with 13 passes defended.
