May 5, 2003
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oregon State senior catcher Shelly Prochaska has been invited to attend the 2003 Women's National Team selection camp as was announced on Monday by the Amateur Softball Association.
Prochaska, a native of Aloha, OR, is one of 50 athletes invited to participate in the team camp, June 4-8, at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. The players will compete for spots on two teams that will represent the USA Softball National Teams in international competition this summer.
Prochaska currently ranks second on Oregon State's squad for batting with a .308 clip on the season and her team-leading 45 RBI set a new standard in the OSU single season record book. She ranks in the Oregon State top-5 in eight different career batting categories and is one of just five players to record four hits in a single game - a feat she has accomplished a school record three times in her career.
Prochaska is one of five Beaver seniors playing their final games in Corvallis this weekend when OSU hosts No. 15 Stanford on Friday and No. 9 California on Saturday.
