May 7, 2003

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State sophomore Orsolya Sallai (Budapest, Hungary) was named Pacific-10 All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Cougars' No. 1 doubles player for most of the season, Sallai was selected in a vote by Conference coaches.

Sallai started the season on fire as she won 13 of her first 19 matches. Sallai won a team-leading 20 singles matches this season to pace the young Cougar squad.

Highlighting Sallai's impressive season was a victory over the 2003 Pac-10 Player of the Year, Oregon's No. 18 Daria Panova, March 16 in Lewiston, Idaho. Sallai defeated Panova, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Sallai also defeated Boise State's No. 79 Renate Stoop 4-6, 5-7, 7-6 February 16 in Boise.

Sallai is only the third player in WSU tennis history to garner All-Conference honors, joining Erica Perkins (1999, 2001-02) and Stacy McKenna (2002).
