No. 18 Softball Shuts Out No. 12 Stanford, 7-0

EUGENE - The No. 18 University of Oregon softball team hit four home runs en route to defeating No. 12 Stanford 7-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The win - Oregon's fourth consecutive Pac-10 victory - improves the Ducks to 32-16 overall, 10-10 Pac-10 while Stanford falls to 39-23, 6-14.
The Ducks had 10 hits in the game and has 21 hits in its last two games while outscoring their opponents 16-1. The last time the Ducks won four straight conference games was in 1999, also their last 10-win season.
Oregon loaded the bases in the bottom of the second inning and took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by senior Amber Hutchison that scored catcher Jenn Poore. Freshman right fielder Beth Boskovich put the Ducks up 2-0 in the third inning with her third home run of the season.
Sophomore Erin Goodell (Roseburg) hit an RBI double - her first double of the season - to drive in Poore in the fourth inning and extend the Ducks' lead to 3-0. Senior Lynsey Haij led off the bottom of the fifth inning with her sixth double of the season and scored on senior Andrea Vidlund's 12th home run of the year to put the Ducks ahead 5-0. Vidlund is now tied for second all-time with 33 home runs and is two shy of the school record. With two outs in inning Poore, who finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs scored, hit Oregon's second home run of the inning to give the Ducks a 6-0 lead.
Goodell continued Oregon's offense in the sixth inning, hitting her third home run of the season and the Ducks' fourth of the game, giving Oregon a 7-0 lead.
