With a big win over UCLA on Saturday, ARIZONA wrapped up its seventh Pac-10 title, tying the Bruins for the most Conference crowns in history ... All eight Pac-10 squads earned bids to the now 64-team NCAA Tournament field ... It's the third time the Conference has seen all eight teams make the postseason ... This season marks the fifth consecutive year the Conference has had at least seven teams advance to the NCAA's ... Arizona (Tucson, Ariz.), UCLA (Fresno, Calif.) and WASHINGTON (Lincoln, Nebraska) earned No. 1 seeds in their respective regions ... CALIFORNIA (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and STANFORD (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) are No. 2 seeds, ARIZONA STATE (Austin, Tex.) and OREGON (Fullerton, Calif.) own No. 3 seeds, and OREGON STATE (Gainesville, Fla.) owns the lowest Conference seeding at No. 6 ... In 513 regional games all-time, the Pac-10 is flexing a 349-164 (.680) ... In voting by the Conference coaches, UCLA shortstop Natasha Watley was named Player of the Year, fellow Bruin Keira Goerl was tabbed Pitcher of the Year, and Arizona coach Mike Candrea earned his second consecutive Coach of the Year honor ... Seven Pac-10 squads are ranked this week, according to the Softball poll: Arizona at No. 1, UCLA at No. 2, Washington at No. 6, followed by No. 7 Cal, No. 14 Stanford, No. 16 Arizona State and No. 17 Oregon.

Seeding, Site Selection . . . The NCAA Women's Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will compete in the championship. This marks the first year for the 64-team bracket. Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in a double-elimination tournament. The top eight teams were seeded in order, and the remainder of the teams were placed in regional brackets to create balanced competition and avoid conference match ups when possible. Teams hosting regionals, which were named two weeks prior to team selections, were not guaranteed a bid to the championship

PAC-10 PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEKARIZONA'S JACKIE COBURN & UCLA'S MICHELLE TURNERARIZONA sophomore thirdbaseman Jackie Coburn has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, while UCLA freshman Michelle Turner and has been named Pitcher of the Week for May 5 -May 11, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Coburn, from Phoenix, Ariz., posted a .417 batting average over the weekend, with five hits, three home runs and a whopping 14 RBI. In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with WASHINGTON, she was 4-for-6, launching two home runs, and collecting 11 RBI, which is an Arizona single game record.

Turner, from Buena Park, Calif., went 2-0 in a doubleheader at ARIZONA STATE, tossing her first career no-hitter in game one, and a five-inning shutout in game two, for a 0.00 ERA and six strikeouts in eleven innings pitched.

It is the first weekly award for Coburn, the 82nd all-time for Arizona. For Turner, it is her first weekly honor, and it is the 75th all-time weekly award for the Bruins.

Arizona will make its 17th straight NCAA Regional appearance, all under Pac-10 Coach of the Year Mike Candrea, who has led the 'Cats to the WCWS each year since 1988 ... The Wildcats are 89-24 (.788) in NCAA games, including a 46-6 ledger in NCAA Regionals and they are 11-4 playing in Tucson in the postseason ... This year, Arizona was 33-5 against teams in the NCAA Tournament ... Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year freshman P Alicia Hollowell is currently on a 12-game winning streak, and she is one of only 12 UA pitchers to win 30 games ... Sophomore 3B Jackie Coburn's walk-off grand slam against UCLA last Friday defeated the Bruins and clinched Arizona's seventh Pac-10 title.

ASU will make its seventh consecutive NCAA appearance, and the 16th in school history ... Junior SS Kara Brun (10 HR) needs one more home run to pass the ASU single season home run mark that she set last year, she already holds the ASU career mark with 34 homers all-time ... ASU has hit at least one home run in 27 games this season, including ten multi-homer games ... The 'Devils are 25-2 when they out-hit their opponents ... The Sun Devils are 23-9 against non-conference foes ... Arizona State had a school record eight players on the All-Conference teams ... The 'Devils have advanced to the WCWS twice in the last four years, including a third place finish last year, the best in school history since the NCAA adopted its current format.

The defending National Champions are making their 18th straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals - the longest on-going streak in the Pac-10 ... The Golden Bears are 46-38 in the NCAA's all-time, and are 35-28 in the Regional round, and they've advanced to the World Series in the last four seasons ... Sophomore OF Kaleo Eldredge hit a team-best .370 average against Pac-10 teams this year ... Sophomore 3B Vicky Galindo has swiped 16 bases this year ... The last time a Cal player stole 16+ bases in a season was Keri Kropke in 1993 ... NCAA season and career walks leader senior 1B Veronica Nelson is leading the squad with a .365 average and a .708 slugging percentage, she has 10 multi-RBI games despite being walked 89 times, including 38 intentionally.

Oregon now owns the Pac-10 single season saves record with 14 this season ... The Ducks are 14-4 in one run games.

Stanford has played 25 of the 64 teams in this year's NCAA Field, and they have a 24-22 record against those postseason-bound squads ... Junior P Dana Sorensen holds Stanford's season (312) and career (776) strikeout records and with 70 career wins, she is tied with Becky Blevins as Stanford's career victories leader ... Stanford is 38-7 when they get on the scoreboard first.

Watley, the Pac-10 batting champion, is also one of the three finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award ... UCLA is 40-2 when getting on the scoreboard first ... Junior Tia Bollinger is 24-9 with a team-high 189 strikeouts this year, and boasts a team-best 1.43 ERA, and sophomore Ashley Boek is 17-4 with 163 K's, and has a 2.13 ERA ... Bollinger has pitched more ground outs (338) than anyone else in the Conference this year.
