Ames and Silverman Win at Salinas Throwers Invitational

On May 20th, Bruins Dan Ames, Scott Wiegand and Jeremy Silverman competed at the 24th annual Salinas Throwers Invitational, held at Hartnell College. Ames won the invitational shot put with a throw of 62-1 (18.92m) and Wiegand was second (61-11.50/18.61m). Silverman won the open shot put with a throw of 59-1.50 (18.02m).

In the invitational discus, Ames was fifth with a throw of 198-8 (60.57m) and Wiegand was sixth (196-3/59.83m). In the open discus, Silverman was seventh with a season best throw of 174-2 (53.11m).

Former Bruin great John Godina won the invitational discus with a throw of 209-8 (63.90m).

Next up for the Bruins is the NCAA West Regional, held May 30-31, at Stanford.
