Four Bruins Earn NFCA First-Team All-America Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Four UCLA softball players, senior shortstop Natasha Watley, senior utility player Tairia Mims, junior pitcher Keira Goerl and junior designated player Claire Sua, were named first-team All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday night. The teams were announced at the Opening Ceremonies for the Women's College World Series. UCLA's four first-team selections were the most of any school.

Watley, the Pac-10 Player of the Year, earned her fourth career first-team All-America honor as a shortstop. It was the second career All-America honor for Mims (selected as a Utility Player), Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year Keira Goerl (selected as a pitcher) and Sua (selected as a designated player).

The Bruins begin play at the 2003 Women's College World Series on Thursday night at 7 pm Pacific Time. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins and Jennie Finch calling the action.
