PULLMAN, Wash. -- Jeff Varem from Vincennes University has signed a National Letter of Intent for men's basketball, Cougar Head Coach Dick Bennett announced Wednesday.

'We're very excited to have Jeff in our program,' Bennett said. 'He is a very unique player with a multi-dimensional game. We think he could be a difference maker.'

The Benue, Nigeria native averaged 15.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks last season, leading Vincennes in each category. He added 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per outing.

As a freshman, the forward averaged 12.1 points, a team-leading 8.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game.

'He is a versatile player,' Vincennes Head Coach Dan Sparks said. 'The best part of his game is his transition from defense to offense.'

Varem was named First Team All-Region XII and Second Team All-America as a sophomore.
