Bruins Eighth Entering Final Round at NCAA Championships

The 10th-ranked UCLA women's golf team is in eighth place after three rounds of the NCAA Championships, hosted by Purdue University at its Kampen Course in West Lafayette, IN.
The Bruins posted an eight-over par score of 296 Thursday and moved up one spot to eighth place with a 54-hole total of 924. They trail seventh place Ohio State by three shots and lead ninth place Duke by two.
USC maintained its lead and enters the final round leading second place Pepperdine by seven shots. The Trojans posted a team score of 293 Thursday and boast a three-round total of 901. Oklahoma State is third at 912, followed by Texas at 917. Florida is fifth at 918 and Auburn is sixth at 920.
Individually for the Bruins, freshman Susie Mathews and junior Hana Kim are tied for 16th place at 228. Mathews posted a 74 and Kim carded a 75. UCLA's low round of the day was posted by Charlotte Mayorkas, who carded an even par 72. She is tied for 25th at 230. Junion Melissa Martin is tied for 83rd after posting a 77 and Gina Umeck is tied for 86th after a 76.
Oklahoma State's Andrea Vander Lende and USC's Mikaela Parmlid are tied for the lead entering the final round. Vander Lende carded a three-under par 69 and Parmlid shot a 70, and each has a 54-hole total of four-over par 220. Second round leader Annie Thurman of Oklahoma State is third at 221 after posting a 74 in round three.
Final round action continues Friday.
