Washington Defeats USC, 5-1, To Win Series

May 24, 2003

SEATTLE - Chad Boudon went 2-for-3 with three RBI Saturday as the Washington Huskies defeated the USC Trojans, 5-1, in Pac-10 Conference action at Husky Ballpark. The Huskies win the series after a 26-2 victory on Friday against the Trojans.

Washington (39-16, 14-9) has probably locked up a berth for the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in the program's history as the Huskies will make back-to-back appearances for only the second time ever. With the loss, USC (28-27, 11-12) will perhaps have its post-season streak snapped at 11 straight appearances.

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout by Darin Vieira in the second. In the bottom of the fourth, Mike Wagner hit his 15th homer of the season with a solo shot to left. After a two-out double by Tila Reynolds, John Otness hit an RBI triple to center to score the eventual game-winning run.

Boudon hit a bases-loaded, two-run single in the eighth for the Washington 5-1 lead.

The series will conclude tomorrow at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
