Scott Lipsky/David Martin Fall In NCAA Doubles Semifinals

ATHENS, Ga. - Stanford seniors Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and David Martin (Tulsa, OK) fell in the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship on Sunday afternoon at the University of Georgia.

The fourth-seeded and fourth-ranked Lipsky and Martin dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision tosecond-ranked and second-seeded Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo of San Diego State.

'I think we gave it our best shot,' Martin said. 'We took it one match at a time and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.'

The loss concludes an outstanding career for Lipsky and Martin, who finished as three-time All-Americans. Lipsky and Martin also advanced to the NCAA Final in 2002 and the semifinals in 2001.

'Getting to the semifinals for the third year in a row is a great accomplishment,' Martin said. 'It could have been better, but I was pretty happy about what we did.'
