Bears Head to Indianapolis for NCAA Championships

May 27, 2003

BERKELEY - California will be racing the best in the country this weekend in Indianapolis. They were granted their fifth straight invite to the NCAA Women's Crew Championships. Racing begins on Eagle Creek Reservoir on Friday the 30th at 8:00 AM and ends on the Sunday, June 1st with the Grand Finals at Noon. Cal will be one of four Pac-10 teams in the field that includes Washington, Stanford, and Washington State. Many are calling this the most wide-open field in years.

'Everyone is very excited for the racing ahead.' Commented Cal Coach Dave O'Neill. 'The NCAA Regatta is a terrific event, and the racing is terrific. This year, more so than any other year, all three boats have a real shot to win. Unlike years past, there is no real favorite. We need to row our own race, and I know what our team can do.'
