Cal Heads to IRA Championships Looking for Record Fifth Straight Crown

BERKELEY - The Cal oarsmen will face the eyes of the rowing world this weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. There they will square off against the best crews in the country in the 101st Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship. The Bears will be hoping to set new milestones in rowing and coaching excellence. The varsity eight is going for its fifth straight national title, and head coach Steve Gladstone is looking to tie legendary Cornell Coach Charles 'Pop' Courtney with 11 Championships.

Cal's Junior Varsity Eight and Varsity Four with coxswain are also looking to repeat as champions this year.

The racing action gets underway on Thursday with trial heats and ends on Saturday with the Grand Finals. For a complete schedule: CLICK HERE
