Rowing Signs Two National Letters of Intent

Los Angeles - The UCLA women's rowing team signed Alexandria Harmon and Leah Wachtel to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today. Harmon and Wachtel will enroll at UCLA in the fall of 2003.
Alexandria Harmon, from Menlo Park, CA (Menlo-Atherton HS), currently rows for Silicon Valley Crew, coached by UCLA graduate Mike Still. Harmon, in her third year with Silicon Valley Crew (2001-03), placed second on the rowing ergometer in the Women's Junior Open at the 2003 Peninsula Indoor Rowing Championships. Harmon also played varsity basketball under Coach Pam Wimberly from 1999-2002 and received team MVP honors in 2001. She currently holds a 4.3 GPA and has received Principal's Distinction honors every quarter throughout her high school career.
Leah Wachtel, from Portola Valley, CA (Menlo-Atherton HS), also rows for Silicon Valley Crew. She joins the recruiting class of Christina Briggs, Alexandria Harmon, Hannah Hartman, Margaret Hoffecker, Anna Lindel, Megan McQuown, and Kirsten Moore that will attend UCLA this fall.
