OSU Announces 2003 Slate

The Oregon State women's soccer team is slated to play 20 games in 2003, 10 of which are against teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2002.

OSU opens the season Aug. 29 at San Diego State and Aug. 31 at San Diego, and plays its home-opening games Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 against San Francisco and Idaho, respectively.

OSU plays nine home games at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium, including the Pacific-10 Conference Civil War opener against Oregon on Oct. 10. Other Pac-10 teams on the home docket include California (Oct. 24), Stanford (Oct. 26), UCLA (Nov. 7) and USC (Nov. 9), all of which qualified for the NCAA Tournament last year.

The Beavers face the Washington and Arizona Pac-10 schools on the road.

Among the Beavers' non-conference opponents that competed in the 2002 NCAA Tournament are defending national champion Portland, which the Beavers face Oct. 5 in Portland. Other 2002 NCAA qualifiers include San Diego, Wake Forest and Pepperdine.

The Beavers compete in the Wake Forest adidas Tournament Sept. 12-14 in Winston-Salem, N.C., taking on Duke and Wake Forest.

OSU compiled a 9-9-2 overall record last year, including a mark of 7-4-0 at Lorenz Field.
