Three Huskies Named To Pac-10 Men's Tennis All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Three Huskies were named to the Pac-10 Men's Tennis All-Academic Team, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today, with senior Ari Strasberg and sophomore Alex Vlaski earning first-team honors, while sophomore Peter Scharler was an honorable mention selection.
Strasberg (Ramat-Hasaron, Israel) was selected to the Pac-10 All-Academic first-team for the second consecutive season with a 3.50 grade point average in business administration. Strasberg paired with Vlaski to earn a final national doubles ranking of No. 38. Strasberg finished his senior season with a 6-10 singles record and a 13-15 doubles mark.
Vlaski (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) earns his first selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic team with a 3.56 GPA in business administration. Vlaski, who earned ITA All-America honors and ended the season with final national singles ranking of No. 6, tallied a singles record of 37-8 and a doubles mark of 15-15. Vlaski advanced to the semifinals at the NCAA Singles Championship and the finals of the Pac-10 Singles Championship.
Scharler (Salzburg, Austria) joins Vlaski as a first-time honoree with an honorable mention selection to the team. Scharler has a 3.31 GPA in economics. Scharler culminated his sophomore campaign with a singles mark of 16-5 and a doubles record of 14-6.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
