Six Duck Softball Players Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

EUGENE, Ore. - Six Oregon softball players, including four starters during the Ducks' run to the NCAA Regional final, were named to the Pac-10's all-academic team, announced by the league Thursday.

Center fielder Janell Bergstrom and first baseman Alyssa Laux, both starters, were named to the first team, while starting second baseman Erin Goodell and designated player Amber Hutchison, plus reserve infielder Mari Lyn Petrick were named to the second team. Pitcher Lindsey Kontra earned honorable mention status.

Laux, a senior from Citrus Heights, Calif., was third on the team in batting with a .280 average. She was second on the squad in both RBI, with 28, and stolen bases with 13. Bergstrom, a senior from El Dorado Hills, Calif., hit .231 with seven doubles -- second on the team -- and 18 RBI.

Hutchison, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., hit .257 and led the Ducks with 19 stolen bases. Goodell, a sophomore from Roseburg, Ore., batted .183 and had a .967 fielding percentage, committing only eight errors in 241 chances.

Petrick, a sophomore from Hillsboro, Ore., hit .176 in limited action. Kontra, a junior from Valencia, Calif., was 6-0 on the season with a 2.48 ERA. She had 38 strikeouts in 65 innings.
