WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State's softball program had three players gain Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic recognition as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen on Wednesday. Outfielder's Cara Maxey and Shannon Sorg each earned second team honors while second baseman Brynnen Guthrie was an honorable mention selection.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.

Maxey, a senior from Fresno, CA, is a two-time Pac-10 second team All-Academic pick, while boasting a 3.14 GPA in Human Development and Family Studies. Maxey started 62 games on the season for the Beavers in center field and finished her four seasons at Oregon State ranked in the career top-10 for home runs and doubles.
