Ahmad Wright Qualifies for 400mH at USATF Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - University of California track and field athlete Ahmad Wright qualified for Saturday's 400-meter hurdles semifinal at the USA Track and Field Championships. Stanford hosts the championships at Cobb Track and Angell Field through Sunday.
Several other Golden Bears also competed Friday. Chloe Jarvis finished 10th in the 800m semifinal, clocking a time of 2:05.90. Tim Bogdanof finished sixth in the second heat of the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.97, and high jumper Teak Wilburn finished with a no-height result in his event.
Former Bear standouts, Kristin Heaston and Missy Vanek also were in action Friday. Heaston won the women's shot put with a mark of 60-1.75, while Vanek finished the day in fifth place of the heptathlon with 5754 points. Vanek's individual results are as follows: 100mH (7th, 14.23); HJ (3rd, 5-10); SP (14th, 37-5); 200m (8th, 25.00); LJ (7th, 18-5.75); JT (3rd, 140-10); 800m (3rd, 2:15.51).
Saturday's competition includes Wright in the 400m hurdles semifinal and former Bears Bevan Hart in the decathlon and Elissa Riedy in the 1500m. Vanek continues in the heptathlon on Sunday. Also Saturday is the juniors section of the USATF Championships in which Bridget Duffy and Antonette Carter will represent Cal.
