Ashley Boek Named To The Pac-10 All-Academic Softball Team

SEATTLE.- Washington softball pitcher Ashley Boek (Redding, Calif.) was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic second team as announced by Commissioner Tom Hanson. To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.

Boek, a sophomore psychology major with a 3.16 GPA, notched 18 wins for the Huskies, who made their sixth trip to the Women's College World Series in eight years. Boek maintained a 2.07 earned run average, while tossing five shutouts and one no-hitter in 37 appearances. She also struck out 176 batters in 166 innings pitched and limited her opponents to a .213 batting average.

Juniors Amy Hanson and Courtney Jeffries were named to the honorable mention team. Overall, Washington has collected 52 Pac-10 academic awards since the 1993 season.
