Eight Stanford Softball Players Named Pac-10 All-Academic

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Cassi Brangham (Clovis, CA), Katherine Hoffman (Kansas City, MO), and Tori Nyberg (Belmont, CA) were selected to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team, as announced by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen. Brangham, a senior outfielder, earned her second consecutive selection to the All-Academic team, improving on her previous Second Team selection. Brangham is an American Studies major with a 3.53 cumulative grade-point average. Senior Tori Nyberg also makes her second appearance on the All-Academic squad, effectively making the jump from to the First Team. Nyberg, a senior pitcher, is a Psychology major with a 3.43 cumulative grade-point average. Rounding out the First Team is sophomore outfielder Katherine Hoffman. Hoffman earned her first selection to the All-Academic team through maintenance of her 3.92 cumulative grade-point average, while majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

In addition to the first team, sophomore outfielder Megan Sickler (Houston, TX) was named to the Second Team. Sickler is an Economics major with a 3.48 cumulative grade-point average. Elizabeth Bendig (Santa Ana, CA), Kira Ching (San Lorenzo, CA), Maureen LeCocq (Woodland Hills, CA), and Dana Sorensen (San Diego) all received Honorable Mention selections.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point-average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
