Mayorkas and Dwyer Qualify for U.S. Women's Amateur

UCLA golfers Charlotte Mayorkas and Bridget Dwyer qualified July 7 for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 4-10 at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, PA.

Both players posted their qualifying scores at the Mission Viejo Country Club. Mayorkas, a junior, carded a one-under par 71 and Dwyer, a senior, posted a 75. For Dwyer, her qualification marks the third time in her career that she will participate in the tournament. Mayorkas, an All-American, will be competing in her first U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

Earlier this summer Dwyer tied for seventh in stroke play at the Western Amateur in Urbana, Il, and advanced to the third round of match play. Last month, Mayorkas tied for seventh in stroke play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championship in Palm Coast, FL, before falling in the first round of match play.

In previous U.S. Amateur appearances, Dwyer has advanced as far as the first round.

U.S.Women's Amateur Championship qualifying continues through July 15 at various sites around the country.
