July 14, 2003

BERKELEY - California will play 13 games against teams that played in the 2003 postseason - including 11 contests against NCAA Tournament squads - during the 2003-04 season.

In addition to eight contests vs. NCAA Tournament schools from the Pac-10, five of the nine non-conference opponents received either NCAA or NIT invitations last March.

The 27-game regular-season slate begins at home against Big West Tournament finalist Cal Poly on Friday, Nov. 21 in Haas Pavilion, while Brigham Young - an NCAA Tournament qualifier in '03 - makes its first visit to Berkeley since Dec. 23, 1989 when the Bears and Cougars play Nov. 26. Other home dates include '03 Big West regular-season runner-up UC Irvine Dec. 3, NIT participant Wyoming Dec. 9, and the EA Sports Golden Bear Classic Dec. 27-28, when Air Force, Columbia and Prairie View A&M will battle Cal for the crown.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, the Bears travel to UNLV, which earned a spot in the NIT last year. Cal also faces NCAA Tournament participants Colorado (Dec. 6 in Boulder) and St. Joseph's (Dec. 20 in the Pete Newell Challenge in Oakland).

The Pac-10 portion of the schedule starts at home against Washington Jan. 2, and concludes with the Pac-10 Tournament March 11-13 in Los Angeles.

Current season ticket holders should receive their renewal notices later this summer, while new season ticket holders may purchase seats beginning early in the fall by calling (800) GO BEARS or visiting
