July 21, 2003
Chicago, Ill. - The Division I, II and II National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Teams were announced today with 297 women's collegiate golfers being recognized with this prestigious honor. Stanford golfers Wendra Liang (San Francisco, CA) and Stephanie Lue (Houston, TX) were among those honored for academic excellence.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 (3.40 for Seniors) and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Liang competed in 11 events for the Cardinal in 2002-03 with a 79.2 stroke average. She won the Peg Barnard California Collegiate with a two-round total of 148 in the spring.
Lue participated in seven events last year for Stanford with an 80.1 stroke average. Her top finish was a tie for 45th at both the Peg Barnard Collegiate and the Pac-10 Championships.
