Cal Opens Preseason Training Camp

July 30, 2003

University of California head coach Jeff Tedford welcomed 32 newcomers and 73 returnees back to campus Wednesday, as the 2003 Golden Bears football team officially opened its preseason training camp at Witter Rugby Field above Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

The newcomers went through a brief one hour and 15 minute walk-through in the morning, while a veterans-only workout was scheduled in the afternoon. The first combined practice of newcomers and returnees will be held on Thursday.

For the second straight year, preseason practices will be held on campus, both at Witter Field and, beginning next week, also on the newly installed Momentum Turf in Memorial Stadium.
