Volleyball's Olsovsky To Compete With National Team At Pan American Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USC women's volleyball senior standout Katie Olsovsky will represent the United States at the XIV Pan American Games women's volleyball competition in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, next month. She joins a mixture of national team players, collegiate stars and one high school player that make up the 12-player roster.
In addition to Olsovsky, the women's roster includes: Erin Aldrich (Texas); Wiz Bachman (UCLA); Cynthia Barboza (Long Beach Wilson High School); Nicole Branagh (Minnesota); Therese Crawford (Hawai'i); Sarah Drury (Louisville); Lizzy Fitzgerald (Wisconsin); Brittany Hochevar (Long Beach State); Jennifer Joines (Pacific); Ogonna Nnamani (Stanford); and Tracy Stalls (Lakewood High School).
Aldrich (Dallas, Texas), Bachman (Lakeville, Minn.), Branagh (Orinda, Calif.), Crawford (Kalamazoo, Mich.), Drury (Louisville, Ky.), Fitzgerald (New Orleans, La.), Hochevar (Fowler, Colo.) and Stalls (Arvada, Colo.) are current members of the USA women's national volleyball team.
Olsovsky (Torrance, Calif.), who enters her fourth season this year with the Women of Troy, earned AVCA second team All-America honors as a sophomore in 2001 and was a member of the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team in 2002 as she helped guide the Trojans to the NCAA Division I national championship.
The women will be coached by Mike Hebert, women's head coach at the University of Minnesota. He will be aided by Denise Corlett, the women's assistant coach at Stanford University, and Chris Gonzalez, who was recently hired as the women's assistant coach at the University of Iowa.
The United States will be a member of Pool A along with Brazil, Peru and Puerto Rico. Pool B consists of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela. The women's volleyball tournament will run from Sunday, Aug. 3 until Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Volleyball Pavilion in the Olympic Center Juan Pablo Duarte.
