Get a Taste of Football With Fox Sports Replays

Aug. 6, 2003

PHOENIX - Fox Sports Net Arizona will help kick off the 2003 campaign with some cablecasts of past match-ups featuring the University of Arizona football team.

The network, UA's local television rightsholder, also carries Arizona State games, so some of the games from the past don't exactly finish on a high note for diehard Wildcat supporters.

The replays starts Saturday, Aug. 9, with a 3:30 p.m. cablecast of a game played last year at Arizona Stadium -- UA's narrow victory over Utah. The Cats emerged with a 23-17 victory.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, a pair of UA-ASU games will be shown. The first, ASU at Arizona in 2000, starts at 3:30 p.m., with the 2001 UA at ASU game slated for 6:30 p.m. Those were the back-to-back visiting team victories -- in the 2000 game, the Sun Devils won 30-17 and in the 2001 game Arizona took a 34-21 victory in Sun Devil Stadium.

The replays conclude with a Saturday, Aug. 23, cablecast of last year's ASU at Arizona game at 6:30 p.m. The Sun Devils thumped the Cats, 34-20.

The Utah-UA game was an Emmy Award nominee for the network. After that replay, FSNA will show the 2002 Oregon State at Arizona State game at 6:30 p.m.

Fox Sports Net Arizona will likely cablecast several UA games this season, depending on the Pac-10 selection process with ABC Sports and Fox Sports Net. The UA-ASU game in Tempe was preselected for showing in June on the FSN national cable network. Two other UA games -- the September LSU and Oregon contests in Arizona Stadium, will be shown nationally on cable by WTBS.

UA players reported to camp Tuesday, Aug. 5, with practices starting today. The Cats open the season Aug. 30 against Texas-El Paso in Tucson, in a season-opener that is not expected to be televised.
