Sam Magee Named To U.S. 2003 World Championship Team

Cardinal junior Sam Magee was named to the US Women's eight that will compete in the 2003 FISA World Rowing Championships August 24-31 in Milan, Italy. The roster includes 15 Olympians and 23 first-time senior national team members, while 41 team members have won a total of 80 medals at past world championships. The women's eight is coming off a gold medal at last year's world championships. The crew of Mary Whipple, Megan Dirkmaat, Ali Cox, Jen Dore-Terhaar, Anna Mickelson, Maite Urtasun, Michelle Guerette, Sam Magee, and Kate Johnson returns five members of last year's world champion boat.
Magee helped the Cardinal women's varsity eight to win the 2003 PAC-10 Championship and to a third place finish at the 2003 NCAA's. Magee was named to the 2003 All-West region team, the 2003 PAC-10 Conference team, and to the 2003 All-American team in addition to competing on the Junior National team in 2000. Magee is the only current collegiate representative racing in the women's eight.
