Stanford Alum Alex Kim Captures Tennis Bronze At Pan Am Games

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - Stanford alum Alex Kim was able to capture Tennis Bronze at the 2003 Pan American Games. Kim was awarded Bronze after he fell short against, former world No.1, Marcelo Rios 7-6(8), 7-6(4). Although Kim was not able to win the match, he was able to win over the Dominican fans. During his final match, Kim was cheered on by 200 local fans that banged drums and chanted 'Vamos Kim' in support of the American competitor.
'It was nice to have the drums beat for you for a change. The atmosphere was really great here,' Kim told a USTA reporter after the match.
Kim graduated from Stanford in 2001 with a degree in economics.
