Sir Henry Anderson Sidelined for the Season Opener

Aug. 18, 2003

Corvallis, Ore. - An X-ray examination shows sophomore defensive tackle Sir Henry Anderson suffered a broken right arm in Oregon State's scrimmage last Saturday and he will miss the Beavers' season-opening 7:00 p.m. game against Sacramento State at Reser Stadium on Thursday, August 28.

Anderson also broke the same arm in preseason last year and the injury caused him to miss the entire season after having corrective surgery. This year's injury is not nearly as serious as he suffered a fracture of the ulna bone in his right forearm. The length of time Anderson will be out of action has not been determined.

Redshirt freshman Ben Siegert and redshirt sophomore Alvin Smith are now in a battle for the starting left tackle spot.

Coach Mike Riley announced Monday that freshman quarterback Danny Southwick and sophomore junior college transfer Nic Sonntag, a defensive end, have decided to leave the team and return home. Both are from Utah. Southwick entered OSU during spring quarter after serving a Mormon Mission and Sonntag joined the Beavers for the first time at the start of fall camp.

Southwick, from Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, was No. 4 on the depth chart at quarterback and Sonntag, from Salt Lake City and a transfer from Dixie State College, was No. 4 on the depth chart at left defensive end.
