Nathan Lashley Defeated in Second Round of Match Play at U.S. Amateur

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's golfer Nathan Lashley was defeated in the second round of match play at the 2003 United States Amateur Championship, 1-up, Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

A junior from Scottsbluff, Neb., Lashley's appearance at the 103rd U.S. Amateur Championship ended courtesy of 1-up loss to Matt Kohn of Longwood, Fla. Though he never led in the match, Lashley rallied from a 2-down deficit with three holes to play to square the match with a birdie on the par-four, 313-yard 17th hole.

Kohn recovered and won the match with a par on No. 18 and advanced to the third round. On the day, Lashley managed two birdies and six pars over the par 70, 7,171-yard layout.

Lashley qualified for match play after posting a 71-75=146 (+6) during the stroke play portion on Monday and Tuesday before defeating Steve Conway, 2-up, in the first round on Wednesday.
