Corvallis, Ore. - Approximately 1,900 tickets remain for the football season opener Thurs., Aug. 28 at Reser Stadium against the Sacramento State Hornets. Tickets are reserved and available for $33. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Reser Stadium has been sold out for 16 consecutive games, dating back to the Sept. 30, 2000 contest vs. Southern California.

The 2003 season promises to be an exciting year with seven home games at Reser Stadium. The team has been selected to finish in the top half of the Pacific-10 Conference by most football experts, who have also predicted that OSU will compete in its fourth bowl game in five years. The team is loaded with talent, led by junior running back Steven Jackson and senior linebacker Richard Seigler. Several other Beavers have earned preseason accolades, including defensive lineman Dwan Edwards, wide receiver James Newson and quarterback Derek Anderson.

'We encourage fans who want to take advantage of the special Thursday evening game to purchase tickets early this week,' ticket operations director Matt Arend said. 'We do anticipate a high volume of inquiries this week and brisk sales at the gate of remaining tickets if available.'

Arend also announced that tickets remain for the following games: Sept. 13 vs. New Mexico State, Sept. 27 vs. Arizona State, Nov. 1 vs. Arizona, and Nov. 15 vs. Stanford.
