Volleyball Downs Ohio, 3-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The No. 23-ranked Washington volleyball team (5-0) defeated Ohio (2-3) in four games this afternoon in day two of the IPFW Tournament. Game scores were 30-28, 30-17, 25-30, 30-22.

Sanja Tomasevic (Uzice, Yugoslavia) led the Huskies with a double-double, including a career-best 28 kills and 15 digs. Joining Tomasevic with double-figure kills were Brie Hagerty (Defiance, Ohio) with 13, Kaitlin Leck (Carson City, Nev.) with 12 and Darla Myhre (Vancouver, B.C.) with 11.

Courtney Thompson (Kent, Wash.) sparked the Husky offense, dishing a career-high 60 assists, while also contributing seven digs and two blocks.

Candace Lee (Eugene, Ore.) captained the UW defensive effort with a season-best 20 digs, while Libba Lawrence (West Linn, Ore.) added 10 digs. The Huskies out blocked Ohio, 11.5 to 7, led by Myhre with six blocks and Tomasevic with five.

Washington wraps up tournament action tonight with a 7 p.m. (CT) match against tournament host IPFW.
