Volleyball Sweeps Boise State, Montana for Tournament Title

MISSOULA, MT - UCLA posted 3-0 wins over Boise State and Montana on Saturday in Missoula, MT, at the Ruby's Montana Invitational. The Bruins topped Boise State 30-12, 30-18, 30-18 then took to the court later in the day to down the host Grizzlies 30-13, 30-14, 30-20. Both of UCLA's opponents had negative team attack percentages. Heather Cullen was named Tournament MVP, Chrissie Zartman was named the tournament's Top Libero, and Brynn Murphy was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Against Boise State, Katie Carter led the Bruins with 11 kills, but Brynn Murphy led UCLA with 14 points on 10 kills, two service aces and three blocks (one solo, two assists). UCLA out-blocked the Broncos by a 7-1 margin as the Bruins hit .357 to BSU's -.051 for the match. Boise State had 16 kills and 20 errors as a team in the match. Chrissie Zartman led all players with seven digs.

In the nightcap against Montana, Murphy led all players with 13 kills, hitting .500 for the match. She led all players with 14 points and was joined in double figures by teammates Becky Green (seven kills on seven attacks and three service aces) and Heather Cullen (seven kills, three aces, two block assists).

UCLA returns to action next week with three matches at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational in Austin, TX. The Bruins will face Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and host Texas.
