Kevin Klemm Hired as Assistant Coach

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford head wrestling coach Steve Buddie has announced that Kevin Klemm will join the Cardinal staff as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2003-04 season.

'We are excited to have Kevin join the Stanford wrestling program,' Buddie said. 'He brings so much knowledge and passion for wrestling with him to Stanford. His presence is going to give our program a huge boost.'

Klemm coached for the Missouri Tiger Wrestling Club last season. He was also the head coach for the USA Kansas Junior Nationals Duals from 1997-2003, the head coach for the East Kansas Championship Wrestling Club from 1989-2003 and a member of the coaching staff for the Dave Schultz Wrestling Club from 1999-2003. During his coaching career, Klemm has tutored over 100 USA Wrestling All-Americans, 21 USAW Individual National Champions and boasts over 15 former East Kansas wrestlers on scholarship at Division I schools.

Klemm took fourth place at 76 kilograms at the 1999 Veteran World Wrestling Championships in Romania and earned the Goriarran Award at the 1998 Championships.

While at Central Missouri State, Klemm qualified for the 1985 NCAA Division II Championships at 150 pounds. He was voted by his teammates as most inspirational and team captain at CMSU. Before transferring to CMSU, Klemm attended Johnson County Community College where he qualified for the 1983 NJCAA Championships at 142 pounds.

Klemm and wife, Iva, have two daughters, Rachel and Emily.
