Women's Golf In 15th After First Round Of NCAA Fall Preview

Opelika, Ala. - The defending NCAA champion USC women's golf team teed off its season with a first-round 309 on Friday as the 2003 NCAA Fall Preview held at Grand National Golf Course got underway.

USC is 23 strokes behind host Auburn, which leads after shooting 286.

Sophomore Tanya Dergal is the top Women of Troy golfer thus far with a 71. She is tied for seventh, four strokes behind Brittany Lan of Duke (67).

Also for USC, sophmore Irene Cho is tied for 53rd (78) and seniors Rachel Bell and Anna Rawson and freshman Veronica Felibert are tied for 70th (80).

Round two of the tournament begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. ET and can be followed live on usctrojans.com or at golfstat.com.
